A Day with Thomas!

Thomas came to town this weekend and Landon got to spend the day with him! He had a blast, when he would calm down long enough to have fun :) He was very upset that we weren't able to climb right aboard Thomas the second he was in sight, he was so excited! Sir Topham Hat freaked him out a little bit. At first he was so excited to see Sir Topham Hat, but then when he got closer and saw the big plastic head, he was a little freaked out and would cry when I tried to get him to take a picture with him. They had a bunch of different tents with activities and things to do. Landon's favorite was the tent with all the train tracks that you could play with the trains. My friend Katie and her kids came with us and my brother, his girlfriend, and son also meet us there. By the end we were all exhausted, but Landon is officially a Jr. conductor and has been asking everyday to go see Thomas again :)

Memorial Day

My husband is a huge war buff. So when I heard about the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall, I knew he would love to go. It's a replica of the memorial in Washington D.C. This wall is half scale of the actual wall. It was amazing and humbling to see the names of all those soliders who died in the war. It's astonishing to hear a number, but something completely different to see it. I'm so glad to live in America and be free. I'm so grateful to the men and women who serve and have served to keep this country free. May God bless you.

I'm turning into DARLA!!

So I just realized I never blogged about Landon getting his first pet! We went to the aquarium about 2 weekends ago and decided to get Landon his own fish tank since he loves watching the fish so much. The guy at the store told us it should be really low mainentence since we were getting a tank with a filter and would just need to replace 1/3 of the water every 3-4 weeks. Yeah right!! We got 6 fish. A goldfish, 2 guppys, 2 mickey mouse fish, a tetra, and a balla shark. In about 3 days the aquarium water was so green you could barely see!! So we tried a water clarifier. No good! We found out that leaving the light on the aquarium can cause a certain type of algae to grow and that we might have been over feeding a tiny bit. So we cleaned the water out and tried again. In 3 days it was dirty again and thats when we had our first fishy crisis. Our poor little tetra was dead :( then while cleaning out the aquarium our poor little balla shark went into shock our something when we took him out and he died too :( We finally got the tank clean and it has been for the last week. But then this morning I found one of the little mickey mouse fish dead under one of the coral decorations!! SO whoever said taking care of fish was easy WAS WRONG!! I feel like the fish are going to think I'm worse than Darla from finding nemo and start trying to jump into the filter and escape. Maybe that's why the tank kept getting so dirty, they were hoping I would put them into plastic bags when I cleaned the tank and not cups, so they could roll out Landon's window to freedom. Hopefully they have realized there isn't an ocean near by and let the tank stay clean :) But we still love our litlle fish and Landon loves to just watch them swim for hours on end :)

Hooray!! Double Coupon Day!!

So I joined the coupon world a little while ago and I LOVE IT!! You can get the greatest deals and stock up. Every once and awhile Albertson's has an ad where you can get double the value of your coupon. So here is a pick of my haul :)

I got:
9 boxes of cereal
4 boxes of fruit snacks (10 count)
4 suddenly salads
4 brownie mixes
3 cake mixes
2 tubs of frosting
4 big boxes of poptarts (12 count)
2 salad dressings
2 cream cheese
1 block of cheese
2 gallons of milk
2 bags of salad
3 cresent rolls (8 count tube)
2lb strawberries
4 apples
bag of grapes
bananas
bag of craisins
bag of almonds
My total should have been $150. I spent $57 and saved $93!! They were having a general mills promotion where you spent $10 and saved $4 instantly. I had to have them ring me up for more things to be able to pay less. At first my total at one store was $16, I had to get 2 more brownie mixes, 2 cake mixes and 1 frosting to bring my total down to $11! I love it! You have to buy more to pay less! The boxes of cereal I got usually cost around $4 a box, I paid $0.80 a box. All 9 boxes cost me $7.20, that's less than 2 boxes at normal price :) If you don't count the things I bought that weren't on sale I spent more around $38 and saved the $93! If you don't use coupons and want to get started let me know and I will tell you how!

Bye Bye Bottle

So I finally said enough and took the bottle away from Landon! He developed a weird obsession with certain drinks only being able to be consumed from certain containers. Milk goes in bottles and juice goes in sippy cups. He wouldn't carry the bottle around or sleep with it so I wasn't to worried about taking it away, but I just couldn't help looking at him with his bottle and thinking 2 1/2 is just too old for a bottle (no offense to anyone out there with a kid that age or older still with a bottle, I'm just weird :) Surprisingly he has been really good with it taken away. It does make me laugh though, cuz now he will not drink milk! I have to trick him and make chocolate milk and call it chocolate "juice" for him to drink it :) Crazy Kid!!
